Huskers Fall At #9 Ohio State



Columbus, Ohio. — The Nebraska men’s tennis team (0-10, 0-10 Big Ten) dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 9 Ohio State (12-2, 9-1 Big Ten) on Friday at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Originally scheduled for the outdoor courts, the match was brought inside due to high winds and cold temperatures. 

Juniors Victor Moreno Lozano and William Gleason fell short to the nationally ranked duo of John McNally/Robert Cash at the No. 2 doubles to start the match. James Trotter and Justin Boulais earned the doubles point for the Buckeyes after a 6-2 win over junior Brandon Perez and sophomore Albert Sprlak-Puk at the No. 1 position. 

 

In singles play, Perez lost a 0-6, 1-6 contest to No. 112 Kyle Seelig at No. 3 before Moreno dropped his matchup against No. 23 John McNally in the No. 1 spot. Boulais closed out the Ohio State victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Gleason at No. 4. The match continued with Shunya Maruyama at No. 2 losing the battle against No. 19 Cannon Kingsley, 2-6, 5-7. At No. 6, Nic Wiedenhorn came up short against Tim Seibert, 5-7, 1-6. To finish the day, Sprlak-Puk took a set from No. 88 JJ Tracy, but lost in the ten point tie-break, 3-6, 6-3, 0-1 (4-10). 

The Huskers get back to action on Sunday, March 28 at 11 a.m. CT against Penn State in University Park, PA. Live stats will be available at psusports.com
