The Nebraska men’s tennis team has added Jackson Withrow, one of the country’s top professional doubles players, to its coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, Head Coach Sean Maymi announced on Sept. 14.
An Omaha native, Withrow brings a wealth of personal experience to the Husker staff. He was a three-time state champion for Omaha Burke High School, a three-time All-American and the 2015 NCAA doubles runner-up at Texas A&M, and he partnered with fellow Nebraska native Jack Sock to win the 2018 Delray Beach Open on the ATP Tour.
“Jackson has had a tremendous amount success as a junior, a college player and now as a pro,” Maymi said. “His experiences and professionalism will be extremely beneficial for the players. I am very impressed with his work ethic and commitment to helping the team.”
Withrow, who earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees at Texas A&M, is excited to join the Nebraska staff while also continuing his professional career.
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of this staff and look forward to helping the guys get the most out of their game,” Withrow said. “I want to help build the culture Coach Maymi and Coach (Tom) Boysen preach and feel that this is a program with untapped potential and talent.
“I’ve missed being back home, and I’m lucky to be able to put on the Nebraska ‘N’ and I’m ready to get to work! GBR!”
