Caleb Lightbourn has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA’s transfer database, according to multiple media outlets. The Washington native was displaced on the depth chart midway through last season after a poor performance against Ohio State.

In that game, his onside kick attempt went viral, after he managed to kick the ball backwards. It was a rough junior campaign for a player that was placed on the 2018 Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List. In five starts, he averaged 41.6 yards per punt. He was ultimately replaced by walk-on and Lincoln native Isaac Armstrong as the starting punter.

The Huskers currently have three other punters on the roster; Armstrong, Lincoln Southeast grad Grant Detleftsen, and Jackson Walker from Overland Park, Kansas. Additionally, Michigan State transfer William Przystup will join the program in time for the start of the 2019 campaign, adding to the depth at the position.
