Husker Bowlers Honored at Night at the Lied

Lincoln – A total of 10 Husker bowlers were honored Sunday night at the 32nd annual Night at the Lied ceremony. The event, which honored the achievements of Husker student-athletes in the areas of academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

Senior Cassidy Ray received one of the night’s big awards as she was one of the three Heart and Soul Award winners. The honor is presented to student-athletes who have consistently gone above and beyond with community service and outreach initiatives throughout their college career. It is the highest honor that NU’s Life Skills Department presents annually. Ray was joined by Karlee Seevers (Softball) and Ben Stille (Football) as the 2022 honorees.

Gwen Maeha was selected as one of the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award for her outreach and leadership over the past year. This award, named in honor of the late Husker punter Sam Foltz, is presented to 27 student-athletes across all sports who exhibit strong leadership qualities, commitment to service and ability to encourage/empower peers.

A total of 10 Huskers were tabbed for the Tom Osborne Citizenship team for their efforts in the community. The honorees included Alexis Buchert, Anna Callan, Marissa Cosentini, Crystal Elliott, Michelle Guarro, Kendyl Hofmeister, Gwen Maeha, Cassidy Ray, Amara Smith Speights and Kayla Verstraete.

Nebraska also excelled in the classroom, as eight bowlers earned academic medallions posting a GPA of 3.0 or better over the last year. The group included three bowlers – Buchert, Ray and Speights – who received Gold medallions after posting GPAs of 3.75 or higher for the previous two semesters. Other honorees included Guarro (Silver), Hofmeister (Silver), Maeha (Silver), Cassman (Bronze) and Elliott (Bronze).
