The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team tallied numerous season-highs Saturday afternoon and claimed new season highs as a team on uneven bars, vault and beam. However, NU fell to Iowa, 195.525-196.825.
The Huskers saw their highest overall team score as well as highest scores on uneven bars, vault and beam. Individually NU set 15 new season-highs.
Senior Kaitlyn Higgins led the Huskers claiming the beam title with a score of 9.875. Higgins also notched a season-high on floor, earning a 9.825.
Rotation One
The Huskers started on uneven bars, earning a season-high team score of 49.225. Junior Kathryn Thaler started Nebraska off with a 9.700. Freshman Genesis Gibson followed with a season-high 9.800. Junior Clara Colombo and freshman Emma Spence each notched a 9.825. Senior Kynsee Roby earned a personal season-high score of 9.875. Sophomore Kinsey Davis anchored the event with a team-high 9.900.
The Hawkeyes started on vault and earned a team score of 49.250. Juniors Linda Zivat and JerQuavia Henderson led Iowa with a score of 9.900, earning the share of the vault title.
Rotation Two
Nebraska had a strong second rotation, posting a team season-high 48.850 on vault. Martina Comin and Spence each earned a 9.725. Freshman Ayzhia Hall added a season-high 9.775. Davis matched her career-high score with a 9.850, while senior Makayla Curtis finished the rotation off for the Huskers with a 9.775.
Iowa competed on uneven bars earning a 49.175. Allyson Steffensmeier led the Hawkeyes with a score of 9.925, claiming the event title.
Rotation Three
On floor, the Huskers earned a team score of 48.250. Spence started the rotation off with a season-high 9.800. Freshman Katie Kuenemann made her collegiate debut with a 9.625. Hall follows with a 9.200. Curtis earned a season-high 9.800. Senior Kaitlyn Higgins added a 9.825 for NU while freshman Halle Rourke finished with a 9.025.
On beam, the Hawkeyes earned a team score of 48.975. Henderson led Iowa with a 9.850.
Rotation Four
The Huskers finished on beam with a season-best score, 48.975. Spence notched another season-high score, earning a 9.825. Hall followed with a season-best 9.800. Davis notched a career-high 9.850 for NU while Thaler finished with a 9.100. Roby earned a season-high 9.850. Higgins added a 9.875 to claim the event title.
The Hawkeyes finished the night on floor, earning a team score of 49.425. Henderson and senior Lauren Guerin each tallied a 9.925 to share the event title.
All-Around Competition
JerQuavia Henderson finished with a 39.475 to claim the all-around title for the Hawkeyes. Emma Spence tallied a 39.175, a season-best, to finish in second for the Huskers.
