The University of Nebraska’s football program, under the guidance of Head Coach Matt Rhule, has made a significant addition to its coaching staff with the recruitment of Glenn Thomas. Thomas, who brings a wealth of over two decades of collegiate and NFL coaching experience, will serve as the Huskers’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. His hiring is subject to the successful completion of the University of Nebraska’s hiring procedures.

A Seasoned Coach with a Proven Track Record

Thomas joins the Huskers following a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played a vital role as an offensive assistant, contributing to the team’s journey to the AFC playoffs. His appointment is part of a broader restructuring of the offensive coaching roles, with Marcus Satterfield now taking charge of the Husker tight ends for the upcoming season. Additionally, Josh Martin will resume his role as an analyst after a stint as an interim offensive assistant coach last season.

Developing Elite Quarterback Talent

Thomas’s coaching journey is distinguished by his ability to develop top-tier quarterbacks, notably during his five seasons alongside Rhule at Temple and Baylor. Under their collaboration, quarterbacks like Temple’s P.J. Walker and Baylor’s Charlie Brewer achieved record-setting performances. Coach Rhule expressed his enthusiasm for Thomas’s arrival, noting his history of success and his elite quarterback development skills.

Impressive Credentials and NFL Experience

Thomas’s extensive resume boasts 15 years of college coaching, including ten seasons at the coordinator level, and a significant eight-season tenure in the NFL. His most notable NFL achievement was his instrumental role in the development of Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Ryan during his time with the Atlanta Falcons.

A Coaching Journey from Midwestern State to the Big Leagues

Thomas’s coaching career started at Midwestern State in Texas, where he transformed the Mustang offense into a national leader in total offense and rushing yards. His career then progressed through various roles, including significant stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Temple University, Baylor University, UNLV, and most recently, Arizona State.

Embarking on a New Chapter at Nebraska

Excited about the new opportunity, Thomas expressed his honor to join the Husker program and his eagerness to contribute to the team’s offensive strategies. With his vast experience and proven track record, Thomas’s arrival at Nebraska is anticipated to bring a dynamic change to the Husker offense.

Thomas’s rich coaching history, marked by his success at various levels of football, positions him as a valuable asset to the Nebraska football program as they gear up for the upcoming season.
