Frosted Flakes: WNIT Wait for the Huskers, Stealing Slides and Brees Retires

The Husker women will learn their postseason destination tonight. It won’t be the NCAA tournament, but it seems more likely than not that they will get a WNIT bid. The Big Ten women are expected to put as many as seven teams in the big dance and as the #8 seed, the Huskers would be first up for the WNIT.

It isn’t guaranteed of course, this team has, at times, looked like they could play with anyone in the country. They have also had some bad losses. Roster turnover, injuries and a generally weird and emotionally taxing year all-round have made it difficult to just to play basketball much less win consistently.

Regardless if this season continues for the Husker women, they have some exciting pieces for next season – and that is before we know if Kate Cain will return or not. The shorthanded roster of this season could turn into a bounty of riches next year.
