Frost on ‘No Fear of Failure’ and Vedral Situation

It may be fall break for the University but the Husker football team is still practicing. Nebraska practiced until one P.M. this afternoon. After practice, Scott Frost took to the podium, where he addressed several topics.

Frost called Monday’s practice “the best overall practice of the year.” Frost has routinely praised the team’s hard work in practice after a tough loss; however it hasn’t resulted in a win thus far.

The collapse Nebraska had during the Northwestern game has only rubbed salt into the wounds of this program. “If you look at that game, we left a lot on the table,” Frost said. “We came up short… one play short.”

The loss came in devastating fashion for the Huskers. Northwestern hit a field goal in overtime to win it. To make matters worse for Nebraska, the game winner came just shortly after the Wildcats had marched down the field in a 99 yard touchdown drive to tie things up with 12 seconds to go.

Frost posed a rhetorical question to his team on their mental state. “Were you thinking about ‘I’m going to finish this’ or were you kind of in the back of your mind thinking ‘oh no… here we go again?’” Frost said.

In other news, UCF transfer and Nebraska native Noah Vedral was granted a waiver by the NCAA that will allow him to play immediately this season.

Frost intends to redshirt Vedral but it’s possible he’ll see playing time this season, as the new redshirt rule allows players to play in up to four games before redshirting.

“I wished we would’ve got the ruling early,” Frost said. “On top of everything else, he’s the most familiar with our scheme out of anybody on campus.”

Nebraska was seeking to get the waiver from the NCAA for many weeks but it was only granted just this past weekend. According to Frost, it wasn’t the NCAA’s fault. Frost did not wish to comment any further than that.

Nebraska will take on Minnesota this Saturday in Memorial Stadium. According to betting markets, the Huskers are favored by six points. Kickoff is set for 2:30.
