Four-star quarterback McCaffery commits to the Huskers

Nebraska Football gained some serious recruiting momentum with the commitment of Vaha Vainuku and Desmond Bland on Friday.

The momentum continued on Monday afternoon with four-star quarterback and 2019 prospect Luke McCaffery announcing his commitment to the Big Red.

McCaffery is a dual-threat QB and native of Highlands Ranch, Colorado (Valor Christian). The Huskers offered him a scholarship back on March 26.

McCaffery is the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Colorado according to 247 Sports, and also held scholarship offers from Colorado, Duke, Michigan, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Ohio State, UCLA, Virginia, Washington and others.

McCaffrey comes from a long line of college football players. His father Ed, who’s now the head coach at Valor Christian, played at Stanford and won Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos.

His brother Christian played at Stanford and now is in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, along with his older brother Max who played at Duke and ended up with the San Francisco 49ers.

His brother Dylan is a quarterback at Michigan.

Nebraska’s 2019 class now has seven commits and ranks 32nd in the country and ninth in the Big Ten, per 247.
