Five Huskers Receive Academic All-District Recognition

Five members of the Nebraska baseball program were named to the 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Team, College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.

Garrett Anglim, Jake Bunz, Josh Caron, Drew Christo and Griffin Everitt all advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot after earning all-district honors.

Anglim is majoring in management and holds a 3.65 grade-point average. The La Vista, Neb., native is a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and was selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2021. The redshirt sophomore has appeared in 29 games this season, including 26 starts.

Bunz holds a 3.66 GPA as a sports media and communications major. The five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll was an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2022. A native of Elkhorn, Neb., Bunz has twice been selected to the Tom Osborn Citizenship Team. Bunz has made 14 relief appearances for the Huskers on the mound this season.

Caron is majoring in management and holds a 3.52 GPA. The sophomore has been named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll three times as a Husker. The Sun Prairie, Wis., native has made 42 starts this season as a catcher or designated hitter for the Huskers.

Christo holds a 3.91 GPA as a biological sciences major. The three-time honoree of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll has twice been selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. The Elkhorn, Neb., native has made 10 appearances on the mound for the Huskers, including one start.

Everitt is majoring in sports media and communication and holds a 3.82 GPA. In 2022, Everitt was the lone catcher selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Baseball Team. The Lincoln, Neb., native was tabbed a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition in 2022. Everitt is a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Everitt has appeared in 34 games as a designated hitter this season, making 20 starts.

Voting for the Academic All-America baseball teams begin on May 16 and closes Tuesday, May 23.
