Five Husker programs recognized for academic achievement on NCAA’s Academic Performance Program

Per an NU press release, five Nebraska athletic programs have been recognized on the NCAA’s Division 1 Academic Performance Program. The Husker men’s and women’s gymnastics teams, the rifle team, the bowling team, as well as the Husker women’s tennis team have all been awarded the distinction.

Each program placed in the top 10 percent in Academic Progress Rate (APR) in their sport. Besides academic performance, the APR tracks a team by evaluating their student athletes’ rates of retention, graduation and eligibility over a multi-year period.

The Huskers have excelled in academic performance in the past, as Nebraska leads the nation in CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports and divisions with 333 honorees in its history. Additionally, this past fall, Nebraska had a 90 percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for the sixth consecutive year.
