For the first time since 2009, Nebraska has had multiple offensive linemen taken in the NFL Draft, as Husker offensive guard Matt Farniok was selected in the seventh round (No. 238 overall) by the Dallas Cowboys.

Farniok joins Brenden Jaimes, who was picked by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round, as multi-year starter for Scott Frost and offensive line coach Greg Austin.

Farniok was a versatile lineman who started 36 games at Nebraska, as he started at four offensive line positions during his career.  Nebraska’s 2019 Offensive Lineman of the Year, Farniok worked his way into the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman in 2017, earning two starts at right tackle and two at right guard. Farniok then started every game over his final three seasons, including all 24 games at right tackle in his sophomore and junior seasons.  As a senior last fall, Farniok made seven starts at right guard and one start at center. He ended his career with 32 consecutive starts, becoming only the 12th Husker offensive lineman to make 30 consecutive starts.

An honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection as a senior in 2020, Farniok also served as a captain in both his junior and senior seasons. He is one of only 13 two-time captains in the history of Nebraska football. Off the field, the Sioux Falls, S.D., native was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree while earning his degree in criminology and criminal justice. He was also a nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, and his work in the community was recognized with three appointments to the Brook Berringer and Tom Osborne Citizenship teams.

The last time NU has two offensive linemen selected in the same season was 2009 with Matt Slauson & Lydon Murtha.
