Eight Huskers Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors



Lincoln – Eight members of the Husker bowling program were honored Wednesday, as the Big Ten Conference announced its spring and at-large Academic All-Big Ten teams.

The bowling honorees include Alexis Buchert, Alexia Cassman, Crystal Elliott, Michelle Guarro, Kendyl Hofmeister, Gwen Maeha, Cassidy Ray and Amara Smith Speights.

Ray and Guarro are both honored as four-time Academic All-Big Ten selections, while Hofmeister and Maeha earned a spot for the third straight year. Cassman and Smith Speights were both tabbed for the second straight year, while Buchart and Elliott

received the honor for the first time.

The Huskers won five tournaments during the 2021-22 season before earning a runner-up finish at regionals.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
