Date set for Creighton vs. Nebraska rivalry game

Creighton and Nebraska will meet on the hardwood under Friday night lights.

The schools announced Thursday morning that next season’s edition of the I-80 Rivalry will be Nov. 22 at the CHI Health Center, setting the stage for the 58th all-time meeting between the two. The game was originally scheduled for Nov. 23, the same day Nebraska football hosts Wisconsin at Memorial Stadium.

The Jays won this past season’s matchup 89-60 in Lincoln, tying CU’s largest margin of victory in the series and handing the Huskers what was their only home loss of the year.

NU has dropped 11 of the last 13 meetings, though the Huskers’ latest win came in Omaha. That day — in the 63-53 upset on Dec. 4, 2022 — Derrick Walker and Sam Griesel combined for 40 points, 20 rebounds and nine assists.

Creighton will enter next year looking to get back to the NCAA tournament for a program-record fifth consecutive season.

Nebraska will be on a quest to return to the NCAA tournament — in consecutive seasons for the first since making four straight from 1991-94 — after its first appearance in a decade.
