Dale Leads Huskers to 2-1 Win Over Purdue

Eleanor Dale scored two goals in her debut at Barbara Hibner Soccer Stadium as the Huskers defeated Purdue, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon in the first home game of the season.

The freshman recorded her first goal of her Husker career in the 12th minute of the match, heading in a goal line pass across the box from Reagan Raabe. Raabe’s assist is her first of her career.

In the second half, Dale found the back of the net again, this time off a cross from Ashley Zugay. Getting over a Boilermaker defender, she headed the ball into the bottom-right corner of the goal for the Huskers’ second score on the day. Kenzie Coons also picked up an assist on the goal, setting up Zugay for the cross from the right side of the field.

Purdue’s Sarah Griffith scored Purdue’s lone goal in the 68th minute of the game off assists from Emily Matthews and Grace Walsh.

On the defensive end, saves from Makinzie Short and a hard fought effort from Husker defense helped the team clinch its first win of the season.

Overall, the Huskers edged the Boilermakers in shots (11-10) while Purdue led with seven corner kicks to Nebraska’s two.

Nebraska returns to action Sunday, March 7 against Michigan at Hibner Stadium. The game kicks off at 12:05 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on BTN+ (additional subscription required).
