Christopulos Named to U.S. Senior National Team



Nebraska men’s gymnast Taylor Christopulos was named to the U.S. Senior National Team at the 2023 Winter Cup. Christopulos was one of 12 gymnasts named to the team Sunday evening. He is the first Husker to be named to the U.S. Senior National Team in over 20 years. 

Christopulos earned a combined score of 156.850 after two days of all-around competition, enough for a sixth-place finish. The junior added a fifth-place finish on floor with a combined score of 27.400. Christopulos also tallied sixth-place finishes on pommel horse (26.900) and vault (28.050). 

The Layton, Utah, native is a 2023 team captain for the Huskers and a returning All-American. Christopulos has been a standout performer for Nebraska over the last two years. The junior has helped Nebraska to two second-place finishes at the Big Ten Championships and two fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Championships. In 2021, he earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and was named Nebraska Athletics Outstanding Male Newcomer across all sports. Christopulos also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors after earning the silver medal on vault at the Big Ten Championships. 

Christopulos has been a leader outside of the gym, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors and CGA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition. He is a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member and a Nebraska Silver Academic Medallion recipient. He has also been named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for his contributions to the Lincoln community.
