Christopulos Earns Fourth CGA Rookie of the Week Honor



Nebraska men’s gymnast Taylor Christopulos was named the CGA Rookie of the Week announced the College Gymnastics Association Tuesday afternoon. This honor comes after an impressive performance at the NCAA Championships. 

Christopulos earned All-America honors after finishing 5th on vault with a score of 14.66. The Layton, Utah native helped the Huskers to a first-place finish in the qualifier session and a fourth-place finish in the finals. 

The freshman went into the NCAA Championships ranked first on vault (14.69 avg.) and held the nation’s highest score of the year (14.95). Christopulos tallied five event titles this season, four on vault and one on rings (the first rings title for Nebraska since 2018). 

Christopulos had a notable freshman year earning three Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, four CGA Rookie of the Year honors and was the first Husker gymnast to earn Ten Freshman of the Year. The freshman was also named to the Big Ten All-Conference Second-Team after placing second on vault (14.55) and fifth on rings (13.70) at the Big Ten Championships. 

CGA also announced Gymnast and Specialist of the Week. Brody Malone of Stanford, who won the all-around competition, earned Gymnast of the Week honors while Gage Dyer of Oklahoma, who claimed the floor and vault titles, claimed Specialist of the Week.
