Charlie Easley Transferring to South Dakota State

Pius X grad Charlie Easley is transferring from Nebraska after one season for Nebraska men’s basketball.

Easley said on Twitter, “It was a difficult decision and is a bittersweet moment for me to have to leave my hometown and the Nebraska program.”

The walk-on earned a scholarship for the spring semester. He played in 28 games as a true freshman, averaging 1.9 points and 0.5 assists per game in 11.7 minutes per contest. Easley started four games during the season, including the three games of the year. He had a season-high eight points against Indiana.

Despite the lack of wins, the team was tight-knit for Easley, with multiple players talking about his work ethic and how much they pull for him to be successful.

“To my teammates, I’m going to miss the bonds I’ve made with you all,” said Easley, “and I wish you guys nothing but the best in the future.”

According to Easley’s statement, he will be on scholarship at South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits went 22-10 this past season, falling in the Summit League tournament quarterfinals.
