Head Coach Heather Brink is excited to announce the addition of three future Husker gymnasts to the 2022 women’s gymnastics signing class.
Csenge Bácskay (Budapest, Hungary), Emalee Frost (Arrington, Tenn.), and Lauren Homecillo (Papillion, Neb.) have signed their letters of intent and will join the roster for Nebraska women’s gymnastics’ 2022-23 season.
“We are excited about the class of 2022 and I look forward to them joining us in Lincoln and becoming part of the Husker family,” Brink said. “Each will bring their own strength to continue to create depth on our team. While it is difficult to put in a few short words what we believe each of these individuals will bring, I have no doubt their experience, skill level and passion will make an impact on Nebraska Gymnastics.”
Csenge Bácskay, Budapest, Hungary
Bácskay is a Hungarian international elite gymnast. She has competed at four European championships from 2018 to 2021. At the 2021 FIG World Challenge Cup Series, Bácskay earned first on vault. She also competed at the 2021 World Gymnastics Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, qualifying for the vault and all-around finals, finishing fifth on vault and 21st in the all-around competition. In 2019, Bácskay also competed at the Doha World Cup and in 2020 at the Szombathely World Challenge Cup, where she qualified to the vault, bars and beam finals. Bácskay is the 2021 national vault champion and the 2018 national floor champion. She competed in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games claiming the silver medal on vault.
The daughter of Zsolt Bácskay and Barbara Bácskayné Abonyi, Csenge was born on April 14, 2003. She has one younger sister, Kincso, and one younger brother, Zsomber.
Bácskay on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because NU is high at university gymnastics competitions and at educational rankings as well. After the first talk with Brian Amato and Heather Brink, I was convinced I would like to attend this university to work with them.”
Emalee Frost, Arrington, Tenn.
Frost is a level 10 gymnast training at Let it Shine Gymnastics in Franklin, Tennessee under coach Matt Baker. She claimed the bars title at the 2021 Region 8 Championships, State Championships,Warrior Classic, USA Invitational and the Knoxville Classic. She has also claimed the title on beam and floor at the 2021 State Championships.
The daughter of Scott and Christine Frost, Emalee has been on the honor roll and received the academic fitness award from her high school, Page High.
Frost on Nebraska: “I chose Nebraska because of the amazing team atmosphere and coaches, along with the homey feeling.”
Lauren Homecillo, Papillon, Neb.
Homecillo is a level 10 gymnast training at Omaha Gymnastics Academy in Omaha, Neb., under coaches Todd Crouse and Kelley Banks Green. She claimed the state title on vault, beam and floor in 2021. Homecillo also finished fourth at the 2021 regional meet.
The daughter of Peter and Theresa Homecillo, Lauren was born on November 11, 2003. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
Homecillo on Nebraska: “I choose Nebraska because they treat their athletes amazing, I love the team, and it is close to home.”
