Bo Pelini Says Star DE Randy Gregory Is ‘Day-To-Day,’ Probably Could’ve Played Yesterday

Despite Nebraska’s blowout victory against Florida Atlantic in the season opener, many Husker fans still had cause for concern at the end of the first Saturday of the college football season. 
The team’s star defensive player, defensive end Randy Gregory, played just one series before sitting out the rest of Nebraska’s 55-7 victory with ice taped around his left knee. 
Following the contest, Pelini said the junior standout is “probably day-to-day” and likely could have returned to the game, if needed. 

Gregory is listed as day-to-day. Pelini would not elaborate about what Gregory’s injury might be.

“He probably could have went back in the game,” Pelini told reporters, “but we decided not to.”
Gregory, who had 10.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2013, was a preseason All-American and is an expected top-10 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
