Big Red to Take on the Oklahoma Sooners



Nebraska is on the road again traveling to University of Oklahoma to compete against the Sooners this Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:00 p.m. CT. The meet is set to take place in Norman, Okla. at the McCasland Field House. 

Last Time Out

After having the weekend off, Nebraska is looking to keep the energy for the upcoming meet against the Sooners after a big win against Penn State the weekend prior. This Big Ten matchup was a momentous weekend for NU, triumphing over Penn State with a score of 408.650-400.85.

The Huskers brought home four event titles. Liam Doherty-Herwitz claimed the vault title with a 14.70, a career-best. Sam Phillips claimed his third overall career title on floor with a 14.00. Charlie Giles earned the pommel horse title with a 14.35, and Dylan LeClair took the parallel bars title with a 13.95

Ahead of the meet, NU ranks third on floor, seventh on pommel horse, seventh on rings, fourth on vault, third on parallel bars, third on high bars, and ranked third overall in the all-around.

Scouting the Competition

The Oklahoma Sooners took the win in their previous meet against Illinois, ending with a final score of 403.850-398.650. Oklahoma looks to battle No. 3 Nebraska with a ranking of second overall in the NCAA. 

Oklahoma secured 2 event titles including still rings where junior Jack Freeman earned a 13.50, and another title on parallel bars for freshman Fuzzy Benas notched a 14.25. OU’s Raydel Gamboa registered a 82.000 in the all-around, taking the title and notching a career-best for the freshman.
