3 Juveniles Detained on Christmas Connected with Other Lincoln Car Thefts

Lincoln police are investigting whether 3 jueveniles arrested on Christmas are connected with burglaries around the city. Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands says around 10AM yesterday police recieved calls that a car was stolen from a residence on the 1900 block of South 15th St. The victims says while he left his car running to fetch tea, someone stole it out of his driveway.

An officer spotted the vehicle and followed it until it stopped near 14th and Marion Streets. The officer placed the 15-year-old driver into handcuffs and attempted to restrain the 15-year-old front passenger.

While he was busy, the 14-year-old rear seat passenger ran from the vehicle but was taken into custody a short distance away. The handcuffed driver and front passenger also broke free and ran from the officer.

All were eventually located and lodged at the Youth Attention Center. Investigators learned these same individuals were also responsible for several recent car thefts.
