11 Huskers Earn Academic All-Big Ten Recognition

All-Americans Eric Schultz and Taylor Venz earned their fifth Academic All-Big Ten award to lead 11 Husker wrestlers who garnered a spot on the list.

Schutlz, a senior from Tinley Park, Ill., collected his first All-American honor over the weekend with a seventh-place finish at 197 pounds at the NCAA Championships. A Nebraska graduate with a management degree, Schultz is one of three NCAA Qualifiers who earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades.

A senior from Farmington, Minn., Venz (184) joins Schultz as a NCAA All-American and five-time NCAA Qualifier. Venz earned his psychology degree from Nebraska in May of 2021.

NCAA Qualifier Peyton Robb (157) was also rewarded for his work in the classroom. Robb, who finished fourth at the NCAA Championships over the weekend, made his third appearance on the all-conference list.

Silas Allred, Landon Brown, Brock Hardy, Daniel Monahan, Dominick Serrano, Tucker Sjomeling, Nic Stoltenberg and Brandyn Van Tassell also received recognition from the Big Ten, with Sjomeling leading the group as a four-time honoree.

A total of 62 Nebraska athletes garnered the academic honor. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
