Wrestling: Three Nebraska Commits Competing at Super 32 This Weekend

Every year’s toughest out-of-season high school folkstyle tournament is Super 32, and this year is no different with nearly 200 nationally ranked wrestlers descending on Greensboro, N.C. this weekend.

The Huskers will be well-represented this weekend by a trio of 2025 commits seeded very high at their respective weights.

First, there’s in-state product Cade Ziola out of Omaha Skutt. A two-time state champion, an Ironman champion, a Fargo national finalist, and a Who’s Number One winner, Ziola is already arguably the most accomplished Nebraska high school wrestler ever. Before Ziola, no Nebraska kid had ever won at Ironman or at Who’s Number One. No Nebraska kid has ever won Super 32 either. Ziola has now ticked two of those off his list and comes in this weekend as the 1-seed at 215 pounds as he attempts to make history again.

Ziola is currently ranked #3 in the country at 215 pounds by MatScouts and #2 at 190 by FloWrestling. He comes in as #35 (MS) and #46 (Flo) on their respective big boards.

As the 1-seed, Ziola will see a manageable path to the Super 32 final where he could face #4 Angelo Posada, an opponent Ziola has beaten three times, including his 7-2 win at Who’s Number One last month (see below).

Wrestling at 175 pounds, Husker commit Tyler Eise will be back on the mat after moving from Colorado to California for his senior season. Eise was a two-time Colorado state champ for Ponderosa, but he’ll be wrestling his senior season at California powerhouse Gilroy High School.

Eise is also the 1-seed this weekend at 175 pounds. He’s ranked #3 in the country at 175 pounds by both MatScouts and FloWrestling. Flo has him ranked #10 in its 2025 Big Board, while MatScouts has him #24. Eise is a truly elite prospect and projects at 184 pounds in college.

Looking at the field, there are 13 ranked wrestlers, but there’s a clear gap between Eise and and the field. Two years ago, Eise finished third at Super 32, and the field’s highest ranked wrestler besides Eise is #10 Waylon Cressell of Indiana, so Eise is the clear favorite.

Here’s a match to watch between Eise and current Iowa wrestler Angelo Ferrari at Who’s Number One in 2023. Eise lost the match, but Ferrari was the top-ranked recruit in the country at the time and is likely to wrestle at 197 pounds in college.

The third Husker commit in the field is their newest in Nikade Zinkin. Registered at a loaded 144-pound weight class, Zinkin will be the 4-seed. A California state champ and Doc B champ, Zinkin is moving up in weight after winning his state title in February at 126 pounds.

This weight class will have 14 of the Top-20 wrestlers in the country, including top recruit Bo Bassett, a priority target for Nebraska’s 2026 class. Seven wrestlers are ranked in the top-6 of their weight class. This weekend provides a perfect opportunity for Zinkin to insert his name even further into the conversation nationally at this weight class. If he can make it past 5-seed Noah Nininger (ranked #4) in the quarters, he’ll have just that chance as he’ll likely face Bassett in the semifinal round.

Zinkin is ranked #5 by MatScouts at 144 with Flo ranking him at #6. On the Big Boards for 2025, MS has him #46, while Flo has him #70. Zinkin projects at Nebraska as a 149-pounder and will arrive on campus to compete for the eventual open spot there with Ridge Lovett graduating after this season.

Known Husker Visitors in the Field

Nebraska has been hard at it bringing in top prospects for official visits this fall, and six of those visitors will be in the field this weekend.

First are a pair of top seeds (and 2026 recruits) in Keanu Dillard (120 pounds) and Dean Bechtold (285) who both visited Lincoln the weekend of the Colorado football game. The 2-seed, Dillard is ranked #1 at 120 pounds by MatScouts and just won a bronze medal at the U17 World Championships in freestyle. Coming in as the 3-seed is Bechtold, a U17 World Team Trials finalist this summer, who is ranked #5 in the country at heavyweight by both MatScouts and FloWrestling. Both Dillard and Bechtold are Pennsylvania natives with Dillard already winning two state titles. Bechtold was a state finalist as a sophomore this past February. Both Dillard and Bechtold visited the weekend of the Colorado game.

In addition to top target Bassett and commit Zinkin in the 144-pound field, Nebraska will have recent visitor Mason Petersen competing. Coming in as the 11-seed will be the in-state product out of Columbus. A state champion as a sophomore, Petersen is also a Fargo placer and just won a title at Fall Brawl this past weekend. Petersen has been turning Division I heads lately, and he’ll have a lot of opportunity against some of the best in the country this weekend. Currently, he’s not ranked by Flo but comes in at #17 by MatScouts. Petersen visited the weekend of the Illinois football game along with Preston Wagner of Fremont.

Petersen has a brutal path if the seeds stand as he’s likely to hit #12 Joseph Toscano (the 6-seed) in the round of 16. If he beats Toscano, Petersen would then likely have to go through #3 Dorian Olivarez, #2 Daniel Zepeda and #1 Bo Bassett from the quarters through the final.

The 13-seed at 150 pounds will be Noah Bull out of Utah. A Fargo national champion this summer in freestyle, Bull is ranked #11 at 144 pounds by Flo. Bull also visited during the Colorado game.

Joining Dillard at 120 pounds will be 12-seed Antonio Mills out of Georgia. A two-time Super 32 placer, Mills is ranked #13 at 120 by MatScouts and #8 by Flo. He visited this past weekend during Nebraska’s football game against Rutgers.

The final Husker visitor in the field is another Omaha Skutt wrestler in Riley Johnson at 165 pounds. A two-time Nebraska state champion already, Johnson is ranked #20 in the country at 165 pounds by FloWrestling. He officially visited Lincoln the weekend of the Colorado game.

Nebraska Kids in the Field

There will be 14 Nebraska boys in the field. In addition Cade Ziola and the visitors Petersen and Johnson, here are the in-state wrestlers who will be testing themselves against the nation’s elite:

Cole Caniglia (So. at Creighton Prep) – 106 pounds

Kobi Streeter (So. at Creighton Prep) – 120 pounds

Ben Ziola (So. at Omaha Skutt) – 126 pounds

Kiernan Meink (Jr. at Millard South) – 126 pounds

Logan Svoboda (So. at Aurora) – 126 pounds

Kiernan Akerson (So. at Creighton Prep) – 132 pounds

Luke Farmen (Jr. at Lincoln Christian) – 132 pounds

Gatlin Krepela (Sr. at Omaha Skutt) – 138 pounds

Tyler Harrill (Jr. at Omaha Skutt) – 150 pounds

Logan Glynn (Sr. at Millard South) – 157 pounds

15-seed Adonis Bonar II (Sr. at Creighton Prep) – 190 pounds

Some notes about this group:

  • The younger brother of Cade Ziola, Ben Ziola won a state title at 106 pounds in February and is now up to 126 pounds. He’s struggled at times this summer as he’s gone up in weight, but he seems to be always competing against top-notch national competition. I’m certain he’ll get things straightened out — will it be this weekend?
  • There are a number of sophomores in the field from Nebraska, so these guys have a chance here to impress college coaches as they will start the recruiting process early next summer. Guys like Kiernan Akerson, who just won a title at Fall Brawl, could work their way into Nebraska’s future plans. Cole Caniglia looks like a legitimate DI prospect. After making the Class A state final as a freshman, Caniglia just took third at Fall Brawl up at 113 pounds, but he’s registered for S32 at 106 where he could have some real success.
  • Omaha Skutt has the most wrestlers here out of the state with five guys in the field. Next would be Creighton Prep with four, led by Adonis Bonar II who is seeded 15th at 190. The only other school with multiple entries is Millard South with two.
  • A three-time state finalist for Pleasanton, Gatlin Krepela has moved to Skutt for his senior season. He could be a breakout candidate in this his senior year.
  • A definite DI guy here is Tyler Harrill. The state champion for Skutt is registered at 150 pounds. I think he has as good of a chance as anyone else on this list to up his stock nationally.
