Who received scholarship offers after Matt Rhule’s and Nebraska football’s camps

Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule has a habit of making scholarship offers after in-person evaluations. That trend continued after NU’s first full weekend of camps at Memorial Stadium.

One of those scholarship offers became an on-the-spot commitment from 2024 punter Kamdyn Koch, the son of former Husker punter Sam Koch.

NU extended several more scholarships over the weekend as well to prospects in multiple classes. Among them:

Derrick Brown, 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, linebacker, Avon (Conn.) Old Farms: Observers who saw Nebraska working with Brown left impressed with the Charlotte, North Carolina-area player who is taking a post-grad year at Avon Old Farms to improve his recruiting profile. Among FBS schools, Temple and Duke have offered, and now Nebraska. It won’t end there.

Landen Davidson, 6-4, 300, OL, Broomfield (Colo.): The state of Colorado produces a ton of good linemen and Davidson, in the 2024 class, is a fast riser who camped Sunday at NU. He has Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas and Iowa State offers in addition to the Husker tender.

Tristan Johnson, 6-2, 260, DT, Hurst (Texas) Bell: The 2024 prospect, who has family ties in Nebraska, had 49 tackles and four sacks last season for Hurst Bell, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He got an offer recently from Arizona State, too, but NU is in a good position.

Jack Lange, 6-8, 275, OT, Eureka (Mo.): Nebraska is getting in early on the 2025 lineman who plays in a St. Louis suburb. He heads to Iowa for an unofficial visit this weekend.

Alex Manske, 6-3, 205, QB, Algona (Iowa): The Huskers appear all-in on recruiting Algona, as Manske, a 2025 prospect, joins Jack Limbaugh as scholarship offers from the small north-central Iowa town off U.S. Highway 18. Manske passed for 1,700 yards and rushed for 400 yards as a sophomore last season. Pittsburgh and Wisconsin have extended offers to the three-star prospect.

Justin Okoronkwo, 6-3, 200, LB, Munich (Germany) Fursty: Committed to Maryland since November, Okoronkwo’s 2024 recruiting profile has hit a growth spurt in recent weeks, with South Carolina and Nebraska extending offers. NU didn’t see him at its camp but it wouldn’t put its hat in the ring if there wasn’t a chance to move Okoronkwo’s needle.

Jake Peters, 6-3, 265, OL, Cedar Falls (Iowa): No Power Five conference offers for the 2024 interior lineman until NU. Peters performed well Saturday and will camp at Iowa later this month, according to 247Sports. If the Huskers want Peters, they should be able to snag him.

Landen Williams-Callis, 5-8, 172, RB, Richmond (Texas): The 2027 prospect — yes, he’s going into his freshman year — didn’t camp at NU but picked up an offer this weekend. He’ll be a tough get, as Penn State, TCU and Miami (Fla.). He ran a 10.6-second 100 meters in middle school.

Charlie Woleben, 6-5, 215, OLB, De Soto (Kan.): A 2025 star in the Kansas City suburb, Woleben nabbed an offer Saturday from NU before heading to Kansas State on Sunday. According to 247Sports, he has a 38-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot, 5-inch broad jump. The Huskers wisely got in early on a player who will inevitably get national attention.
