Earlier this week, second-year CU football head coach Deion Sanders shared his respect for Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule and his freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. Out in Lincoln, Rhule and several Nebraska players have also spoken highly of the Buffs, who are looking for their fourth straight win over the Cornhuskers.
Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is set for 5:30 p.m. MT on NBC.
Check out what Nebraska players are saying about Saturday’s rivalry matchup with the Buffs:
Quarterback Dylan Raiola shares respect
“My dad told me he never lost to them, we’re going to respect them as an opponent,” Raiola said (h/t Marko Jerkovic).
Keeping things focused on football
“You just prepare like any other game, there’s going to be more people, cameras and hype,” Raiola said (h/t Marko Jerkovic). “We’re just keeping it about football.”
Dylan Raiola watched last year’s game
“Coach Prime is going to have his guys ready to play,” Raiola said (h/t Clayton Collier). “I got nothing but respect for him, but we’ve also got coach Rhule. I have all trust in him.”
DL Ty Robinson knows the rivalry runs deep
Ty Robinson speaks on Colorado’s O-line
“They’re a solid group,” Robinson said on Colorado’s offensive line (h/t Nebraska Cornhuskers on SI). “They’re really great pass protectors. They’re pretty aggressive in the run. We’re just going to stick to our process. Stick to our technique and go play and work because we know it’s going to be a battle up front.”
DB Isaac Gifford also watched previous games
Nebraska senior defensive back Isaac Gifford on the #Huskers game vs. Colorado: “This one has a lot of meaning.”

“We know what we’re going to get from him,” Gifford said (h/t Inside Nebraska). “He uses his body really well, he uses his length, and he knows how to use it. He’s a smart player. We just got to be ready for that, know he’s going to be physical at the point of the ball and be prepared to use our hands and stay tight to his body.”
More from Isaac Gifford
“I’m putting the focus on us,” Gifford said (h/t Inside Nebraska). “I’m not focusing on them. Everybody wants to make the game about them and whatever. It’s about us. It’s about what we’re going to do about how we’re going to get better from Week 1 to Week 2.”
DE Jimari Butler looking forward to the matchup
“It’s a night game, rivalry game, I know it’s gonna be electric,” Butler said (h/t Athlon Sports). “I’m looking forward to it.”
Jimari Butler praises Shedeur Sanders
“He’s (Sanders) one of the best quarterbacks in the nation,” Butler said (h/t Husker247). “We’re gonna try and slow him down, but just try and capitalize on the opportunity when it comes.”
OL Turner Corcoran asked about Colorado’s defense
“I thought they were really physical,” Corcoran said (h/t Husker247). “They loaded the box up really well. They had a lot of good run fits. They’re very physical in the pass game, too… I’m always just looking forward to the challenge.”
