What I want to see this weekend.

1. O line needs to start the game nasty. Adrian’s post-game comments about having to get them juiced up late in the 1st quarter was pretty telling. Why are these guys loafing? Do they think they’re legit Pipeline now or something? Wake the fuck up and block.

2. I love CTB but I don’t ever want to see him field another punt or kick ever again. He’s our best defensive player and it makes no sense to have him out there fielding kicks and risking some gunner coming for him because he ‘missed the fair catch signal’.

3. MOAR OPTION! Seriously, I remember at least 2 option pitches that were executed PERFECTLY. Thought for sure Adrian was gonna keep it and then BOOM, the no-look flip. You can tell Scott was leading these drills and showing by example – He did it with KZ at UCF also.

4. Continued discipline. Obviously the Illinois game didn’t turn out the way we wanted, but one positive takeaway was that the sheer number of penalties was reduced (yes, there were a couple costly ones at the worst time). This was improved for Fordham though (very few penalties and not a single drive killer I could think of – could just be that it was an FCS team) and was pleasantly surprised at the distinct lack of penalties, especially drive/momentum killing penalties last week.

5. I want to see a lot more reps to the back with the hot hand and running the same play until the D stops it. It was nice to see Stepp stay in the game with Fordham until they were able to stop him. This is exactly the kind of thing that can keep offensive momentum going and also create a positive feedback loop for the O line that will also then blow the passing game wide open. RB pops a nice 5-6 yd carry on 1st down, that juices the O line, RB pops another 5-6yd run, O line gets more juiced, RB pops another one, O line is now playing with their hair on fire and defense knows this so they stack the box – BOOM play action pass with a favorable 1 on 1 matchup down the field.

We do all of this and it’s not a close game at any point at all.
