As I write this I look outside to an overcast and very humid morning. It doesn’t quite feel like fall here in Nebraska just yet. Yet, we all know it’s right around the corner.
College football starts this weekend and that means our beloved Huskers will take on the mighty Illini of Illinois. Bert is back in the Big Ten and he wants his territory back.
It will be interesting to see how well he does at a school where the athletic director doesn’t have sway over the program and the athletic department underfunds it to boot.
Illinois does not have a great track record over the past fifty years or so with a few fine seasons salted in-between. Bert might be able to make it work. Maybe on his way to taking over the Iowa job when Kirk retires.
Hey, it will at least justify the Tigerhawk tattoo he has on his leg.
