Weber Earns Second-Straight Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Award

Nebraska soccer incoming freshman Sarah Weber earned 2020-21 Gatorade Nebraska Girls Soccer Player of the Year honors for the second season in a row.

A native of Gretna, Neb., Weber played high school soccer at Gretna High School, helping the team to a 21-1 record and capturing the Class A state championship this past season. She scored 48 goals and passed for 29 assists during her senior campaign. Weber also earned first-team all-state honors on two occasions and finished her prep career with a total of 100 goals and 49 assists.

Off the field, Weber maintained a 4.0 GPA, while volunteering locally at Least of My Brethren and giving her time to many community service initiatives.

The award, in its 36th year, honors the nation’s best high school athletes for outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. By winning the accolade for the state of Nebraska, Weber is a finalist for the Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.

The Huskers announced the signing of Weber, along with the addition of ten other 2021 commits, to the roster on Dec. 21.
