Vedral Named Official Number Two at QB, Daishon Neal Out for Season

Noah Vedral is now officially Nebraska’s number two QB, according to Scott Frost. “Right now, it’s Noah. [Andrew Bunch] is perfectly capable and ready to come in too, but I think coming into the game it’s going to be Noah,” Frost said.

The sophomore had a chance to play this past Saturday against Bethune-Cookman. Vedral only went 2-9 for 29 yards through the air, but he did score on a 20 yard rushing touchdown, diving over the pylon in athletic fashion.

It’s no real surprise Vedral has been named the number two. Vedral transferred from UCF which makes him no stranger to the spread offense Frost runs.

Frost also revealed that junior defensive lineman Daishon Neal would undergo season ending surgery, with an undisclosed injury. “He’s been gutting it out with an injury for a while, so we got him surgery,” Frost said.

With Ohio State ahead, Frost believes the team is in a much better headspace than they were back in mid September when they took on the Michigan Wolverines. “To be honest with you, when we went up to Ann Arbor, I’m not sure the team thought they could win,” Frost said. “I think we have a team going up there [to Columbus], thinking we got a chance if we play well.”

Confidence is just one side of the equation though for Nebraska. Frost acknowledged that the offense will need to pick up a lot of points if they want to win the game.

“Right now, we’re going to have to score points to win games. That’s just the way it is,” Frost said. “Our defense continues to get better too but I don’t think we’re going to win any [games] 10-3 right now.”

Nebraska will play Ohio State this Saturday, November the third at 11 A.M.
