Two Husker Football Players Cited During Traffic Stop

On Friday, July 12th, Nebraska football players Marquel Dismuke and Jeremiah Stovall were cited at a traffic stop in Lincoln shortly before 8 p.m. around 13th and Sumner, according to Lincoln Police spokeswoman Angela Sands.

The driver, Dismuke, was driving on a suspended license. Dismuke had a previous citation in conviction of a suspended driver’s license. He was cited and released for driving under suspension and the vehicle was towed.

Officers noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as well. Stovall was cited and released for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Both players have a court date scheduled for August 13th at 1:30 p.m.

Dismuke is 21 years old and is a defensive back. Listed at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, the junior played in seven games in 2018 on both defense and special teams. He had nine total tackles on the year.

Stovall, a senior and Creighton Prep alum, was named Nebraska’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2018. He had 16 total tackles last year.

In a statement, the Nebraska Athletic Department told KLIN “we are aware of the incident and are addressing it.”
