Top in-state recruit Christian Jones commits to Nebraska football

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hometown: Lee’s Summit, Mo.

The specs: Wide receiver, 6-1, 185 pounds.

Takeaway: While Nebraska aggressively recruited Isaiah Mozee before hiring his dad, Jamar, to an assistant coaching role at NU, it’s fair to note the Huskers lost the initial recruiting battle to Oregon, which landed Isaiah’s commit in mid-April.

Combine Jamar’s hiring, Oregon’s stacked class and NU’s effective recruiting and you get a father-and-son addition that should help Nebraska’s efforts getting prospects out of Kansas City.

On the field, Mozee has had a spectacular career at Lee’s Summit North — where Jamar was head coach — catching 173 passes for 2,338 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Many of Mozee’s touchdowns have come on short crossing patterns and tunnel screens. Lee’s Summit North runs one heck of a tunnel screen, but Mozee makes the play work with excellent vision, agility and slipperiness in traffic. He’s probably like Demitrius Bell or Jacory Barney in that way. Mozee runs the way he does, though, at 6-1, 185, and that’s impressive.

He’s got downfield ball skills, too, but you’re always looking for receivers who can take a low-risk short pass to the house.
