Just a small update on some recruiting for the fans that don't look too much into it but want to know the juicy details, I'm not some insider with tons of info most my info comes from other sources rather if it's public or behind the scenes so take anything I say with a grain of salt.
Christian Jones 4* LB – I've been hearing that Jones likes Nebraska but that no one is quite the favorite for him yet. He still has OU visit coming up but seems like his top 3 are NU, OU, and Auburn. If this was a year ago I'd be willing to say he is N but as of now it's harder to tell.
Dawson Merritt 4* LB – I've been hearing increasingly good things from Dawson, his family seems to really love it here. I think a lot of people have him as a heavy lean to Bama but I think it's closer to 50/50. The support the fan base and coaching staff have given him have really made him consider us when he was likely going to Bama.
Michael Terry III 5* ATH – I've heard mixed things so giving a serious take is really hard. He has 4 schools in the mix with Texas, A&M, Oregon, and us. Someone put in a Crystal Ball into Texas but It's not a very accurate prediction based on their past choices. All-in-all I like our chances but I do feel like it's gonna be hard to beat out Texas and A&M for him.
Cortez Mills 4* WR – After our visit with him I thought we had a really good shot but since then he has had multiple visits and it seems like he's Clemson bound.
The Bishop Gorman Trio – So, if none of you are aware there is 3 very very talented Linemen at Bishop Gorman, it almost feels like they are all a package deal. With all 3 being 4 star+ and on some sites 2 of them being 5 stars. Now, where do we sit? I've heard good things it's basically between Michigan, USC, and Us for all 3 I've heard they want to all play for the same place which is why Michigan, USC, and NU are all in play. Nebraska is really pushing for more Polynesian recruits and that pipeline is really opening up for us.
David Sanders 5* OL – I've heard he's not moved on from us but that it's very unlikely we get him, we got into his recruitment late and didn't do a great job on his visit. The person who got him interested in us with Dylan but the coaching staff for some reason are not as high on him(maybe they think it's wasted resources idk) I think we're more focused on other OL's and don't wanna spurn them for one guy.
Mekhi Nelson 3* RB – A well rounded back that a lot of people likely don't know, he's got good speed not always the fastest on the field but he normally is, great balance and good vision. He even lines up as WR sometimes too so he's likely got some experience with running routes and catching. Can be a one size fits all type of back. Someone to keep an eye out for as he's a VERY likely Nebraska commit.
Isaiah Mozee 4* WR – Oregon commit visited recently, where do we stand? He's a friend of recent WR recruit Keelan Smith, who likely got him in the door… as for anything outside of that? He didn't post our visit so it was def an in-secret type of visit will we flip is a lot harder of a question. One that I don't have the info to give.
Malcolm Simpson 4* DL – I think we are the true favorites to land Simpson from what I'm hearing he's not being recruited all that hard by other schools likely because he's a tweener in size. Last measured at 6-3 235ish. Nebraska doesn't really care about that they look for kids who can ball. Cam Lenhardt is a great example of that who is 6'3-250
Brian Tapu 3* Tackle – speaking of the Polynesian pipeline this kid is massive at 6-8 300 and he only recently started playing football! Has a fantastic frame and seems like a heavy favorite to Nebraska at this moment.
Aiden Manutai 3* Safety – really should be a 4 star dude is a monster, Nebraska trying to keep the polynesian pipeline open but with this one it seems like we might not really have as much of a shot as we used too as more offers have came in for him we've fallen a bit behind but he did show up for his visit which bodes well for us.
Other – I've heard good things about Chase Loftin, Houston Kaahaaina-Torres, Rahim Hutchins Jr, and Michael Riles I think we're the favorites for all 4 but I can't give you super details on them.
As the month of june ends and July creeps up we will get a lot of these named recruits to commit. With some delaying till the season to see how teams look esp some of the bigger names. If Nebraska has a better than average year I'd expect a lot of these recruits to buy in to what Rhule is saying. Just note everything is subject to change with things like this Tmw is a new day for a lot of these kids. Where choices change every day.
