Thursday Flakes: Hot Dogs, Summer Concerts and Urban Forests

I’ve just finished spending a wonderful week in Columbus, Ohio to visit my brother and sister-in-law. Most importantly, I finally got to meet my niece for the first time and those are the moments you never forget. She niece is used to her mother feeding her so I only managed to feed her one or two spoonfuls of baby food until she realized who was feeding her and stopped accepting food from me. Thankfully my niece was a lot more cooperative when it came to playtime and we did some fun things together.

Currently, I’m spending Memorial Day Weekend with my uncle and aunt who live near Washington DC. Today I will be exploring the National Mall and visiting a couple museums that I have been on my list for a while (National Museum of African American History and Culture and National Museum of the American Indian). Then I’m back to Guadalajara on Tuesday.

How far will Nebraska Baseball go in the Big Ten tournament?

What condiments and toppings do you like to put on a hot dog?

Have you ever done a health wellness retreat?

Does your city or state have any urban forests?

Are you going to any musical concerts or festivals this summer?

Feel free to answer some of these questions in the comments below. Anyways…onto Flakes.

Sears and Cristo Send Purdue Home in Nebraska 6-2 Win | Baseball | Corn Nation

It seems Purdue is always involved with Nebraska at the end of the season. 2022 saw Purdue roll out the tarp, sit in the dugout and make their way to Omaha instead of Nebraska. (They went 0-2 by the way.) Then in 2023, Nebraska went to West Lafayette and ended Purdue’s season, right in front of that tarp. 2024 provides the rubber match of the series. Nebraska looking to end Purdue’s season, and Purdue trying to send Nebraska home early from Omaha.

Frontier and Spirit Airlines Eliminate Change and Cancellation Fees | Travel | Travel + Leisure

The moves from these low-cost airlines are no coincidence as the Department of Transportation (DOT) ruled in April that U.S. airlines must disclose so-called “junk fees,” including checking a bag or changing flights.

Southwest Airlines Fares Now Available on Google Flights | Travel | Travel Pulse

The addition marks a major change for Southwest, which has typically driven travelers to its website to shop for flights rather than making it easy to compare against other airlines.
