Husker O-lineman appears in the portal
The name of Husker offensive lineman Matthew Anderson surfaced in the heavily populated transfer portal on Tuesday morning.
The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder from Leesville, Louisiana, was part of the 2019 recruiting class. He redshirted his first fall on campus and continued to develop behind the scenes as a tackle in 2020 while not playing in any games.

What a recruiting cycle it has been for the class of 2021.
The players had to make college decisions during a pandemic. Those decisions were made without the benefit of official visits. Oftentimes they didn’t get to take unofficial visits or meet future coaches in person. A lack of camp season and in-home visits made things tougher on college coaches. It was a strange recruiting cycle. Through that, Nebraska was able to put together another top 25 recruiting class.

An Atkinson man who died Monday in a crash in south Grand Island is the grandfather of a current Husker football player.
Merle Liewer, 75, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, said Grand Island Police Capt. Jim Duering. It was Nebraska’s first reported traffic fatality of the new year.
