The refs didn’t lose the game for us…but…

How can they be held accountable, fix it, and make it right. There’s no doubt they cost us momentum last week, and possibly the game this week.

I’m really not a fan of blaming refs for a loss, and I’m not ready to do that for the Illinois game either. The refs didn’t miss the open receiver, they didn’t miss the field goal, and they didn’t collapse in OT. But there’s no doubt the calls they made, and missed, were absolutely pivotal in the game. They missed a personal foul in OT that would have given us a first down and a chance to stay alive. They called another critical personal foul when our guy was just trying to punch the ball free (I know how it looked.)

Bottom line is we’ve got to play better if we want to win. But holy shit you can’t have refs killing momentum, and giving teams free yards, especially in a close evenly matched game. It does affect the outcome and it absolutely shouldn’t.
