The gift of Christmas Koolaid (1/2)

Hey husker family, Merry Christmas to everyone. I saw a post the other day predicting our record for 2023 and found it surprisingly pessimistic based on the comments. The range I saw was between 4-7 wins including a possible bowl win. Even more surprising was that I’m on the high end of expectations, because I would laugh my ass off the past few years as people predicted Frost will bring us back to 9 or 10 wins. I posted the same set of questions in each opponent subreddit for how they think next year will go. The 4 questions: QB, Returning Experience, Trust in coach and fan attitudes, and who will win the game. Here are my thoughts and predictions after hearing from our opponents:

Minnesota

They’ll be without their star RB and their QB1 is gone as well. Overall losing a ton of experience. Lots of linemen on both sides will be gone as well. Fans love Fleck and say this is the best spot the program has been in decades. Overall fans weren’t confident either way. I think our superior athleticism and the momentum of a new program get us the W

Colorado

The one we’ve all been waiting for. If we’re drinking Kool-Aid they’re beer bonging it with Coach Prime pouring it down their throats. Shadeur Sanders is possibly the most talented QB we will face outside McCarthy at Michigan. Lots of hype for both programs with new coaches. Colorado fans are 10/10 excited and there is lots of momentum behind them. The previous coach left the cupboards pretty empty it seems and Prime has bulldozed what remained of that mess. There is no way to confidently answer this one because so much is up in the air. In the case of a tie, Kool-Aid is closer to Scarlet than Gold, so I’m going with the Huskers

Northern Illinois

I was banned from the subreddit for posting the questions for some reason lol. Huskies suck, go big red. Nebraska by 80

Louisiana Tech

Didn’t hear much from the subreddit, they were 3-9 this year and I don’t see a reason they will be better next year. Fans seems pessimistic. Another W for the Huskers.

Michigan

Lots of responses on this one, most of them kind. McCarthy + Corum + Harbaugh + lots of young starters on the defense returning. This one is going to be ugly. Michigan by 4+ touchdowns imo. First L of the season

Illinois

A sky high fan base has been crashing to earth the last few weeks according to the comments. Their RB is a once in a generation player for the program and he has entered the draft. Danny Devito at QB is graduating and there is no obvious replacement. Their star studded defense is losing multiple players to the draft, graduating, or to the portal. Their defensive coordinator was so awesome he got poached by Purdue as their new head coach. They plan on promoting from within which is not a good sign to me. Everything is on the downhill in Champagne, Huskers win by double digits.
