I’m not sure there is much to say. It was a bad day for Nebraska football.
Five turnovers against a good team is devastating. Five turnovers against a team that is 1-3 is also not ideal. It’s hard to beat any team when you lose the turnover battle by five.
Add this to the fact that the quarterback play for Nebraska has not been good. Nebraska fans need to dig in. Things will not be corrected this year.
Nebraska played a good game last week. They didn’t this week. Those were two different teams.
After the game Nebraska Head Football Coach Scott Frost said the following:
“We got beat in every phase, I would say, players and coaches alike. I felt great about our plan going in on offense. We’ve got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. We have guys open and miss them. We have bad snaps that kill drives. We have penalties that kill drives. One little thing here or there and it’s not going to work. I’m going to keep simplifying, if I have to, to make sure these young players can be in the right place and do the right thing. We played a lot of young guys, but we got beat in every phase today and their team was more ready to play than ours.”
It just felt like a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
According to Husker athletics:
“Collin Miller was transported to Bryan LGH West Hospital for precautionary reasons. Miller has movement in all of his extremities, and the results of all diagnostic imaging and testing on Miller were normal. He will stay overnight at the hospital for observation and at this point the prognosis looks promising.”
Praying for my boy @C_millz31 such a genuine person at heart hoping for nothing but the best.

The Morning After
Miller transported to hospital, but prognosis looks promising
It’s the worst scene in football, but there was an encouraging update on the status of injured Husker senior linebacker Collin Miller.
As McCaffrey ran often, Husker passing game stays in neutral
Luke McCaffrey was running, and running.
He ran it on 20 of Nebraska’s 46 snaps in the first half, in fact. The problem was the Husker offense seemed to be otherwise running in place when it came to where to find its yards during the 41-23 loss to Illinois.
Three thoughts on Blackshirts’ poor game against Illinois
Here are three thoughts on Nebraska’s defense after a bizarre regressive performance on Saturday:
Illinois Exposed an Uncomfortable Distance Between Where Nebraska Should Be and Where It Is | Hail Varsity – Nebraska Football, Recruiting, News
Before Tom Allen arrived in Bloomington, Indiana, the Hoosiers had one winning season dating back to 1995. Twenty-two seasons; only one time above .500, and that was a 7-6 year. Indiana was a doormat, a basketball school, not to be taken seriously.
They Said It: Scott Frost Talks Nebraska’s 41-23 Loss to Illinois | Hail Varsity – Nebraska Football, Recruiting, News
Coach Scott Frost met with the media on Saturday following the Huskers’ 41-23 loss to Illinois. He spoke about the embarrassment of the loss, his confidence in the program, what needs to be done to get the offense going and more.
Here’s the transcript from his question-and-answer session postgame.
Nebraska loss to Illinois leaves Scott Frost embarrassed – The Athletic
Down double digits to Illinois at halftime in an eventual 41-23 loss, Nebraska players emerged from the locker room Saturday at Memorial Stadium with a bounce in their step missing from the first 30 minutes of football.
Here are my final takes and grades following Nebraska’s loss to Illinois on Saturday.
We’ve seen plenty of bad losses in the last 10 to 15 years with Nebraska football, but Saturday was different than all of them.
NU’s loss to Illinois is the first time I can remember the Huskers being outplayed so poorly in a game on paper they were considered a 17-point favorite.
Scott Frost was ’embarrassed’ by a Husker loss he didn’t see coming | Football | omaha.com
A first-play turnover so strange it demanded a replay that never came. A holding call at the opponent’s goal line from an injured center. A fake punt so easy it shocked the opposing punter, who nearly fell down as he traipsed for a first down. A quarterback running so often he accounted for more than half the team’s carries.
Lovieball leads to Illinois’ first win over Nebraska in Smith Era – The Champaign Room
Lovieball.
Head Coach Lovie Smith always says his goal for his team in the takeaway department is at least three per game. In the first half against Nebraska the defense had its trio of takeaways: a fumble recovery from Jake Hansen, and interceptions by Tarique Barnes and Tony Adams. The defense added a fourth takeaway with a Khalan Tolson forced fumble and recovery late in the third quarter. A fifth takeaway came in the fourth with a Hansen interception.
IMO, rest of year, you see if you have a QB, if you don’t you look for one in the transfer portal. I like what the defense has done for the majority of the season. They go back to the drawing board and get ready for Iowa. That’s 2020 for me. #Huskers pic.twitter.com/cyAj24kolu

Nebraska now 5-5 in the alternate uniforms since 2009.
0-4 in the black uniforms.

Shout out to everyone who stuck it out to the bitter, painful end.
Someday it will get better.

Marcus Fleming led the team receiving against Northwestern.
0 catches the last two weeks.
These sort of inconsistencies are weird.

We’re just a bad team but I tell you what, I’ll be in front of the TV every Saturday until we become good again. #Huskers
