Sunday Morning Baseball: Nebraska Tries To Salvage Series With Sparty

After an embarrassing 17-5 defeat yesterday, Nebraska (14-15, 2-5 Big Ten) is back on the diamond this morning, trying to salvage a series split with the Michigan State Spartans (8-19, 2-5 Big Ten). Nebraska sends Matt Waldron to the mound to face off against a Spartan lineup who scored a season high 17 runs yesterday. Sparty sends Mason Erla to the mound.

Erla has been a good pitcher this season, working to a 4-1 record with a 2.61 earned run average. The redshirt freshman out of Cass City, Michigan has appeared in seven games and allows less than a hit per inning, allowing opponents to bat only .199.

Waldron has been hot and cold this season, as he has worked deep into games, and has gotten absolutely shelled in other games. He had a quality start against Minnesota, but still is allowing opponents to hit .367.

Lineup changes for Nebraska include putting Zac Luckey in the lineup at shortstop, instead of Jaxon Hallmark. Hallmark slides to the outfield with Nolan Hakel returning to the bench. Mike Addante gets the start at DH for the Huskers.
