Scott Frost Day News: Sink or Swim and Huskers Prep for Michigan.

Last night, as I watched my kids during their swimming lessons, I kept thinking about how terrible swimming must be inherited. This is just another thing that my oldest son has seemed to inherit from my dad (and brother) that I did not inherit.

Now, I’m no Katie Ledecky or really anyone that would be competing in any swim meet, but I can do some things.

My dad can’t swim at all. He thinks his feet are floating to the top as soon as he gets into water above his knees. Once we were at a water park and he fell off his tube coming out of a slide and nearly needed to be saved in 3 foot water. We just had to keep yelling at him to stand up until he figured it out. To us it was hilarious. He loves when I share these stories.

My brother on the other hand can swim, but it took him a long time to get through swimming lessons. He consistently had tubes in his ears as a child, so getting his ears wet was always a problem. From what I remember, my son and him look the same in the water. Not a lot of floating, a lot flailing from side to side, and a lot of splashing.

I’m sure it will get better. Or at least he’ll be able to swim without a life jacket sometime in the next year or so. In the meantime, I will just sit and watch amused at genes I passed on to him.

On another note, what a great weekend for Husker sports. Great volleyball, great football, and some fun basketball.
