Roster Review for Next Year

I’m bored watching my Detroit Lions get curb stomped so I decided to take a look at players who will be gone next year, and ones who have a choice to either stay or leave due to covid year.

Seniors:

The following players do not have any eligibility left and will be gone after this year…

Ben Stille (DT) *Medium Loss*

Levi Falck (WR) *Small Loss*

Jojo Domann (LB) *Big Loss*

Marquel Dismuke (S) *Big Loss*

Deontai Williams (S) *Big Loss*

Samori Toure (WR) *Big Loss*

Will Honas (LB) *Small Loss*

That’s a total of 7 starters gone, 5 on defense, and 2 on offense. Will Honas I believe can still apply for a medical redshirt due to missing the entire season. As for DT and Safety positions, we have quality depth in those spots so I’m not very worried. Jojo and Toure are definitely the most impactful losses leading into next season.

Covid Juniors:

The following players have already used 4 years of eligibility but can opt for a covid year…

Pheldarius Payne (LB)

Adrian Martinez (QB)

Caleb Tannor (LB)

Omar Manning (WR)

Cam Taylor-Britt (CB)

Austin Allen (TE)

Eteva Mauga-Clements (LB)

Matt Sichterman (OL)

Broc Bando (OL)

Trent Hixson (OL)

Chancellor Brewington (TE/WR)

Travis Vokolek (TE)

Oliver Martin (WR)

Damion Daniels (DT)

Deontre Thomas (DL)

Of the following players listed, I see only Austin Allen, Travis Vokolek and maybe CTB leaving for the draft (although CTB’s draft stock has fallen significantly). Broc Bando will probably be forced out to free up a scholarship. The rest we can hopefully convince to stay because of our small recruiting class this year.

What do you guys think? Who do you see leaving/being forced out? Personally, I think if we finish this season strong with 6 wins and making a bowl, and convince most of these covid juniors to return, we could have a solid team next year. That is pretty dependent on if Martinez comes back though.
