Nebraska sophomore libero Lexi Rodriguez was named to the Academic All-America Third Team by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday.

A native of Sterling, Ill., Rodriguez carries a 3.64 GPA majoring in advertising and public relations and was one of 21 student-athletes selected to one of the three Division I Academic All-America teams. She is Nebraska volleyball’s 25th student-athlete to earn Academic All-America recognition. Her selection increased Nebraska’s total to 40 Academic All-America awards, the most of any volleyball program in NCAA history. As an institution, the University of Nebraska has produced an NCAA-record 349 Academic All-Americans across all sports.

Rodriguez was also an AVCA second-team All-American this season. She averaged 4.26 digs per set and led the Huskers to a nation-leading opponent hitting percentage of .128. Rodriguez also recorded 25 service aces and had 135 set assists in the Huskers’ 6-2 system. A team captain, Rodriguez was a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten Team and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week once this season and was part of the Husker Invitational and Ameritas Players Challenge All-Tournament Teams.
