Hey /r/Huskers! I’ve closed the Dude Guy Bust survey for the 2017 class (aka the Dude Guy Bust: Big Oof Edition) and compiled the results. This time around, I have enough TBD responses on a few players to do something with. In the case of a player who gets over 20% of the responses as To Be Determined and either Bust or Dude + Guy is less than 50%, I’m going to put them in a separate To Be Determined category and give the predicted DGB Index by replacing the To Be Determined votes with the predictions that followed it. I’ll likely have the next survey posted tomorrow.
In order to quantifiably determine which player is a Dude, Guy, or Bust, I decided to take the results, and assign every Dude/Hit vote a score of 2, every Guy vote a 1, every Who? vote a 0, and every Bust/Miss vote a -1. To Be Determined votes were not considered in computing the index. I added up the scores of each player and normalized them to a scale of 0-1 where a 0 is where every respondent gave a vote of Miss and 1 is where every respondent gave a vote of Hit. This score will henceforth be called the Dude-Guy-Bust Index (DGB-Index). In order to classify the Dude-ness of a player, I took whichever score their DGB-Index as closest to (and excluded No Opinion as a classification option). This means that 0-0.3333 is a Bust, 0.3334-0.8333 is a Guy, and 0.8334-1 is a Dude. The breakdown of the class using this method is as follows:
– Dudes: 1
– Guys: 3
– Busts: 11
– To Be Determined: 3
Below I’ve listed out each Dude, Guy, and Bust in order of their DGB-Index and gave a short blurb for each player:
# Dude
– OL __Brenden Jaimes__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/kO0pHsO.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8797 3*): 0.8463 DGB Index. Jaimes is one of very few linemen to start as a True Freshman in Nebraska football history. The five other that have achieved that accomplishment combined for eleven starts while Jaimes started nine by himself. Now a rising senior, he has started 33 games in a row and that streak doesn’t look like it’s in danger whatsoever barring injury. Jaimes has earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors the past two years and has one final season to stake his claim as one of the most accomplished linemen in Nebraska history.
# Guys
– DL __Damion Daniels__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/TNQ3igq.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8596 3*): 0.7050 DGB Index. The younger brother of standout Nose Tackle Darrion Daniels, Damion has to this point played in 24 games and recorded 32 total tackles and 2 sacks. Now that he is a veteran and has been in the S&C program for several years, it could be time that we see him take another step forward and become the main man at Nose Tackle. He will have to battle several other promising linemen like Keem Green and Jordon Riley for that role.
– TE __Austin Allen__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/8OwQZIK.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8512 3*): 0.5741 DGB Index. To this point in his career, Allen has played in 24 games and started five of those. So far, he has nine receptions and 137 yards in his career with no touchdowns. Allen really put his name on the map with [this]( https://youtu.be/PLd0L42VDzs?t=601) reception against Ohio State in 2018. He has yet to make many more plays as exciting or explosive as that one, but the opportunities will be plenty in his last two seasons with the Huskers.
– DL __Deontre Thomas__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/Dxi8BWh.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8762 3*): 0.5140 DGB Index. Thomas barely missed the To Be Determined category, but the amount of Dude and Guy votes added to just over 50% of the total. Thomas has been involved on the Nebraska defensive line since the very first game of his True Freshman season. He only played in four games his Sophomore season before getting injured. Fortunately, with the new redshirt rule, he was allowed to utilize his redshirt and save a year of eligibility. He was once again heavily involved in the rotation this past season and has two seasons to take on a much larger role now that Darrion Daniels and the Davis twins have graduated.
# Busts
– DL __Chris Walker__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/YWs54k5.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8411 3*): 0.2271 DGB Index. Walker is extremely close to the 20% threshold of TBD votes necessary to avoid this category, so one could argue he belongs there. However, he did not meet my threshold of 20% TBD votes, so here he is. Walker was a late offer for Mike Riley’s staff and started his career on the Offensive Line, but moved to Defensive Line after his redshirt season. He’s known to be a big time weight room junkie, but we have yet to see if that can translate to the field.
– LB __Willie Hampton__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/WyPTYhq.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8569 3*): 0.1704 DGB Index. Hampton transferred out of the program after his redshirt season. It appears he went the JUCO route through Garden City Community College and was an impact player for them. He is now a Redshirt Junior at FCS Western Carolina University.
– LB __Andrew Ward__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/m3CMRAA.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8457 3*): 0.1599 DGB Index. Ward transferred after his redshirt season after reportedly being a standout on the scout team. He is now a Redshirt Junior at Central Michigan and has appeared in 17 games for them so far.
– LB __Guy Thomas__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/dDINKxh.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8727 3*): 0.1539 DGB Index. I imagine some of the votes were some very attentive people noticing that he is technically a Guy. However, he has still landed at the Bust level in the index. He transferred out after his Redshirt Freshman season, attended Coahoma Community College last year, and will be at Colorado this upcoming season.
– LB __Avery Roberts__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/RSWG9s8.png) | 247 Composite: 0.9248 4*): 0.1270 DGB Index. Roberts played in all 12 games his True Freshman season and was the first letterwinner from Delaware in Nebraska football history. He then transferred to Oregon State, sat out one year, and was their leading tackler this past season.
– FB __Ben Miles__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/VyM2wKj.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8393 3*): 0.1240 DGB Index. Ben Miles, the son of Kansas (and formerly LSU) Head Coach Les Miles, unfortunately didn’t have a spot with Nebraska once Frost was hired on due to the change in scheme. After his redshirt year, he transferred to Texas A&M, then transferred again after his Redshirt Freshman season to be with his dad at Kansas. He started at least eight games for Kansas this past season.
– RB __Jaylin Bradley__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/QVoEOnx.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8375 3*): 0.0926 DGB Index. Before Nebraska, Bradley was one of the most accomplished Running Backs in Nebraska high school history. He appeared in seven games his True Freshman season, then only one more the next two seasons. He announced his intent to transfer this past offseason. It appears he has run into some legal trouble recently and has not yet announced a new school.
– WR __Tyjon Lindsey__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/oI9ikhI.png) | 247 Composite: 0.9769 4*): 0.0642 DGB Index. Lindsey was one of the most heralded recruits in Nebraska history, but just couldn’t make it work with the new staff. He had 12 receptions his True Freshman season and three more through three games his True Sophomore season. After that third game, he announced his intent to transfer and shortly after announced his destination was Oregon State. This past season, he had 18 receptions for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Beavers.
– QB __Tristan Gebbia__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/pHdZaur.png) | 247 Composite: 0.9217 4*): 0.0612 DGB Index. Tristan Gebbia, the Quarterback of the Calibraska crew, transferred shortly before the 2018 season after learning that Adrian Martinez had won the starting role. He also transferred to Oregon State (I see a pattern here). He has been a key backup for them, having appeared in four games and starting one of those.
– WR __Keyshawn Johnson Jr.__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/ybFNxHG.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8931 4*): 0.0433 DGB Index. Johnson Jr. is the son of notable NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson, who also played under Mike Riley as USC’s Offensive Coordinator. Johnson Jr. left Nebraska after Frost was hired and transferred to Arizona. It appears he is no longer playing football.
– WR __Jaevon McQuitty__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/PtMzq5z.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8944 4*): 0.0313 DGB Index. McQuitty appeared in nine games in his first three seasons at Nebraska and recorded two receptions. This past season, he announced he was medically retiring, but then announced he was transferring instead shortly after. It appears he has not yet announced a destination.
# To Be Determined
– OL __Broc Bando__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/ere9Ap3.png) | [Follow-Up Predictions](https://i.imgur.com/wcJ1yxP.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8412 3*): 0.4223 DGB Index after predictions added, 0.3899 before. Bando saw his first action this past season as a Redshirt Sophomore. It looked like he may have gotten buried in the depth chart, but it seems like he’s come along a lot recently. He ended up playing in all 12 games last season and filling in for Jaimes when he went down with an injury against Northern Illinois.
– TE __Kurt Rafdal__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/fooDrhx.png) | [Follow-Up Predictions](https://i.imgur.com/fTyhQEh.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8559 3*): 0.3783 DGB Index after predictions added, 0.3824 before. Rafdal played in all 12 games as a Redshirt Freshman, but perhaps took a step back this past season only playing in six games and making one reception. He’ll have an opportunity to fight for a larger role on the offense, especially once Stoll graduates.
– OL __Matt Sichterman__ ([Results](https://i.imgur.com/NbXGfZJ.png) | [Follow-Up Predictions](https://i.imgur.com/silUi3q.png) | 247 Composite: 0.8757 3*): 0.3318 DGB Index after predictions added, 0.2949 before. To this point, Redshirt Sophomore Sichterman has played in 16 games including 12 this past season. This past season, he was primarily a special teams player, but got some playing time on the line in the Maryland and Northern Illinois games. There will be significant battles at the guard positions in the coming seasons that Sichterman could factor into.

> Tough class
One of about 20 similar comments. Fully agreed.
> Guy Thomas is literally a Guy
Technically correct is the best kind of correct.
> Just because a player transfers it does not automatically make them a bust
I agree, and this showed in the last edition with Spielman being voted as a Dude despite announcing his intent to transfer.
> Psy is my daddy
Hello my child.
