Last week, Dirk Chatelain wrote an article looking at some of the stats regarding the direction of the program. I wanted to look more deeply at his points 6 and 7. Normally, I try to be a Husker optimist but there’s not much precedent for turning things around after year 3 when getting off to this slow of a start. Only 4 coaches started with a worse win percentage over three years than Frost and then were able to average a 9-3 at the school after that. And only 1 of those 4 did it at a major school in the modern era.
I focused on coaches that won 75% of their games in the article but its also worth noting that Mike Leach (at Washington State), Barry Alvarez, and Kirk Ferentz all had a worse win percentage than Frost in years 1-3 before maintaining a nearly 66% win percentage since then.
