Remember games on PPV?

This was referenced in a comment on a post yesterday, but it got me thinking. As bad as all the different streaming services are now, it’s nice to be able to watch games relatively easily. Just 15 years ago, our noncon games were on PPV for $60.

And the craziest part? The university only got a fraction of that money. We had 50,000 buys (at $60) to the 2008 Western Michigan game for a total of $3M in revenue. The University of Nebraska’s cut was $250k-400k.

Wild times before these new media rights deals.

Edit: looks like they were only $30-$40, not $60
