Nebraska have finalized and released the spring game rosters for Saturday’s scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.

A whole host of players will be inactive on Saturday, including Wan’Dale Robinson, JD Spielman, and Maurice Washington. Robinson and Spielman have been battling through injuries, while Washington is facing legal issues in his home state of California for allegedly sending a video to his ex girlfriend of her performing a sex act while she was still a minor.

NU head coach Scott Frost said on Wednesday that he “will wait until everything happens to make any lasting decisions” on Washington’s future.

Also likely to be limited, is starting quarterback Adrian Martinez. The coaching staff doesn’t want to risk an injury to Martinez. That fact doesn’t bother defensive coordinator Erik Chinander, who joked on Wednesday that Martinez’s lack of playing time on Saturday will be “great for us (the defense).” Additionally, Omaha Burke grads Nick Henrich and Chris Hickman are both out, with the former requiring surgery that will keep him out until the fall.

The majority of the starters are on the red team, led by Martinez and linebacker Mohamed Barry. The red team also features some up and comers like redshirt freshman running back Brody Belt, early enrollee and highly touted wide receiver prospect Jamie Nance, and freshman QB Luke McCaffrey.

The red team is also bolstered with the bulk of the blackshirts, including Darrion and Damion Daniels, Carlos and Khalil Davis, Ben Stille, and Tyrin Ferguson.

The white team is comprised mostly of backups and players that are still fighting for spots, like junior QB Andrew Bunch, sophomore running back Jaylin Bradley, and sophomore wide receiver Jaevon McQuitty.

NU head coach Scott Frost said on Wednesday that he was pleased with how spring practice went overall and that the team is “a mile ahead” of where they were last year.

Coverage of the spring game can be heard on 1400, KLIN beginning at 11 o’clock. Kickoff is at 1 pm.
