Recruiting “Analyst” Idea

I’m not one to follow recruiting on a daily basis. However, when I do read articles on future Huskers or listen to Schaefer, Callahan, etc. on the radio about these players, it becomes mind-numbing.

Do these “analysts” really know…..anything? It’s always an assortment of generic buzz words regarding their “film” they’ve looked at. They like every player we get. I know it’s difficult to truly know how a player will translate to college other than averaging star rankings and their past performances in college. But I just wish we had some actual constructive criticism of the players.

What if analysts started pointing out all the flaws in these recruits? If you’re a 3-star, why should I like you as a player? Clearly your film, specs, and skills didn’t amount to being an elite recruit.

I’d appreciate honest analysis over “he hits the hole hard” or “this guy can really move defensive linemen in film” or “he has great footwork and speed.” Yeah, we get it.

Or perhaps this is all just a product of hype. The recruiting journalists have an easy job. Keep touting the players as good for the programs they commit to. Fans read it. They get more clicks. And money.
