With the exciting news of Raiola’s commitment, I wanted to see how well five-star QBs do once they get to college. Unsurprisingly, they often do pretty well. But it’s not often a linear path for these elite signal callers. They often go to powerhouse programs coming off great seasons, making Raiola’s commitment unique. These players are also extremely likely to transfer, so even though he’ll arrive on campus next month, the team needs to do much better to keep him here.
Great true freshman seasons are also rare for these guys and I think it’ll be a good QB battle between him and Purdy this spring and into fall camp. It should help both be much better QBs but I think the talent of Raiola wins out over the experience of Purdy
