Nebraska football welcomed FCS opponent Northern Iowa to Lincoln Saturday night. The Panthers looked to pull off an upset over the No. 24 Huskers. While Northern Iowa controlled possession over the ball, Nebraska made the most of its drives, resulting in a 34-3 victory.

Dylan Raiola once again guided the Huskers through the air, throwing 17-of-23 for 247 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Freshman Carter Nelson led Nebraska in receiving, hauling four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Emmett Johnson snatched three catches for 43 yards, and Isaiah Neyor hauled in two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Lloyd also snatched another big gain for the second week in a row, this time a 59-yard play.

Nebraska also tallied 142 yards off 22 carries for two touchdowns. Dante Dowdell had six carries for 55 yards, and Johnson rushed for 50 yards off four carries and a touchdown. Jacory Barney Jr. brought in the Huskers’ other rushing touchdown with a 10-yard sweep. Tristan Alvano also kicked two field goals for the Cornhuskers.

On defense, after allowing a field goal on the opening drive, Nebraska shutout the Panthers throughout the game. Northern Iowa won the possession battle, holding onto the ball for over 38 minutes and running 71 plays.

But the Huskers held Northern Iowa to just 139 rushing yards, despite finishing with 39 carries. Nebraska also only allowed 16 completions off 32 passes for 162 yards and an interception. Malcolm Hartzog Jr. snatched the interception for Nebraska, his second of the season.

The Huskers move to 3-0 for the first time since 2016 and have allowed the fewest points allowed through the first three games of the season since 2005. Nebraska will face 3-0 Illinois on Friday night for the 400th consecutive sellout of Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on FOX.
