Pierce Mooberry commits to Nebraska football

Millard North’s Pierce Mooberry tackles Papillion-La Vista’s Caden Busch on Aug. 24, 2023, at Buell Stadium in Omaha. Mooberry committed to Nebraska on Saturday.

The Nebraska football team’s hold over a talented 2025 class of in-state recruits continues to grow stronger and stronger.

The Huskers landed a fifth in-state recruit on Saturday when Millard North linebacker Pierce Mooberry announced his commitment to Nebraska. Mooberry joins his high school teammate, Caden VerMaas, in NU’s 2025 class alongside Omaha North’s Tyson Terry, Wahoo Neumann’s Conor Booth and Lincoln Southwest’s Jackson Carpenter.

It was on the same day in early January that Nebraska first extended a scholarship offer to Carpenter, Mooberry and another in-state target — Platteview’s Reiman Zebert. From that day on, the Huskers were on Mooberry’s radar as one of his top options alongside Iowa State, Kansas State and Minnesota.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound linebacker recruit unofficially visited campus for a spring practice before five Nebraska assistants  Tony White, Terrance Knighton, Rob Dvoracek, Evan Cooper and Ed Foley  returned the favor by visiting Mooberry at his high school in May.

Prior to officially visiting Nebraska on June 21 alongside the Huskers’ other in-state targets, Mooberry was ready to make his decision.

The three-star recruit spent the last two seasons playing deep behind the line of scrimmage as a safety in Millard North’s defensive system. Mooberry will be moving to linebacker next season and will likely continue in that role down the road where the combination of size and athleticism will serve him well.

Nebraska is now up to 10 players in its 2025 recruiting class, having landed commitments from St. Louis Cardinal Ritter running back Jamarion Parker and Mooberry in the same week.
